Filtrona believes in careful stewardship of the environment in which it operates and embodies this philosophy in its corporate business strategy. Operating companies implement this policy through the design of their own documented and maintained environmental management systems that are structured to assess, manage and improve the environmental impacts of activities, products and services.
Filtrona is committed to:

The management of each division becoming familiar with this policy and the local laws and regulations of the relevant country and will take the necessary actions required to implement and maintain compliance with standard practices.

Continually improving environmental performance by establishing, and actioning, plans to achieve defined goals and aims designed to meet targets that are reviewed and revised on a regular basis, including securing such external accreditations as may be specified from time to time

Preventing pollution and reducing environmental impact by controlling emissions, discharges and disposals and by the use of appropriate processes, materials and practices.

Using environmentally safe, sustainable and recyclable resources wherever possible, and financially viable, with minimum waste and efficient use of energy.

Each division appointing an appropriately designated employee to be knowledgeable of, and responsible for, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, standards and practices.

Regular divisional reporting on environmental performance through the timely use of Filtrona Group Systems and otherwise as required from time to time.

Each division will identify and include in the strategic planning and annual budgeting process, projects and initiatives designed to improve and/or enhance environmental performance by the pursuit of defined targets relevant to that division. Such projects and initiatives shall receive at least equal priority with other operational, manufacturing and quality related projects.

Educating and training employees in the requirements of the environmental management system and their roles within it, particularly those whose work may create a significant impact on the environment.

Actively engaging with customers, employees and suppliers to exploit opportunities offered by new technologies and improved process operations to further reduce environmental impact.

Each division shall submit on a half yearly basis a report of performance against their stated environmental objectives to address and improve environmental conditions.
Filtrona ensures that the necessary resources are provided to implement this policy and reviews it annually for effectiveness and continuing suitability. The Company also makes the policy available to interested parties, including the general public, who may be affected by the environmental performance.
Responsibility The Chief Executive is responsible for the Group’s environmental programme supported by the Director of Group Human Resources. Filtrona has established a Group Health Safety & Environment Council whose primary task is to review progress with the implementation of the policy and agree objectives and standards for the Group worldwide.
Compliance Compliance with this policy will be treated in the same manner as other Filtrona policies. All divisional Managing Directors or Presidents as appropriate will be required to sign a disclosure statement twice each year (at the half year and year end) acknowledging their receipt of a copy of this policy, the dissemination of the policy to their direct reports, and the disclosure of any known violations of this policy, to the extent not previously reported as required under the policy.
