Health & Safety

Filtrona is committed to the highest standards of health and safety for all its employees. This commitment extends to any other person affected by the group’s activities, including customers, suppliers and visitors.

Filtrona’s policy is to incorporate the necessary training and supervision to ensure a safe and healthy working environment and to conduct business in a manner that protects employees, the public and all others impacted by the group’s activities.

Every Filtrona site is responsible for the design of its own health and safety policy to comply at the very least with the laws and regulations of the relevant country and also satisfy Filtrona's own requirements, including such external accreditations as may be specified from time to time.

The following practices are an integral part in the operation of Filtrona businesses:

  1. The management of each division shall become familiar with this policy, and the local laws and regulations of the relevant country and will take the necessary actions required to implement and maintain compliance with standard practices.
  2. Each location shall designate at least one competent person to be knowledgeable of, and responsible for, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, standards and practices and who will have access to at least one appropriately designated trained and qualified employee.
  3. Each business will regularly report on its health and safety performance through Filtrona Group Systems and otherwise as required from time to time.
  4. Each business will identify and include in the strategic planning and annual budgeting process, projects and initiatives designed to improve and/or enhance health and safety. Such projects and initiatives shall receive at least equal priority with other operational, manufacturing and quality related projects.
  5. Each business shall carry out an annual review of health and safety to ensure ongoing compliance with best business practices and relevant laws and regulations.

Health and Safety is important for all employees and Filtrona demands their fullest involvement and cooperation.

Responsibility
The Chief Executive is responsible for the Group’s health and safety programme supported by the Director of Group Human Resources. All divisional Managing Directors or Presidents are responsible for the proper implementation of, and compliance with, this policy within their respective division. Filtrona has established a Group Health Safety & Environment Council whose primary task is to review progress with the implementation of the policy and agree objectives and standards for the Group worldwide.

Compliance
Compliance with this policy will be treated in the same manner as other Filtrona policies. All divisional Managing Directors or Presidents will be required to sign a disclosure statement twice each year (mid year and year end) acknowledging their receipt of a copy of this policy, the dissemination of the policy to their direct reports, and the disclosure of any known violations of this policy, to the extent not previously reported as required under the policy.
