Instructions: FG 103 Post Driver

Using the FG 103 Post Driver with FG 96 Steel Anchor (SA)

The FG 103 is designed for use with a steel U-Channel anchor. By driving the anchor directly into the soil, the FG 103 eliminates the need for a pilot hole. Installation of the delineator post with a steel anchor assures the user that the post/anchor combination can be driven into a wider variety of compacted soils in a more timely, efficient manner. Use of the FG 103 reduces physical labor as well as installation time.

1. Place delineator post with steel anchor attached into the FG 103 Driver, making sure that anchor butts against the "Anchor hammer." (See Figure 3) The top of the post may extend up through the top of the FG 103 Post Driver.

2. Holding the FG 103 with the post inside, position the bottom tip of the steel anchor at the desired point of entry into the soil. With both hands, grasp the handles and slide the FG 103 up and down, striking the anchor hammer against the top of the steel anchor with sufficient force to penetrate the soil. Repeat the process, taking care that anchor is entering the soil in as upright a position as possible.

3. Adjust the position of the post between impacts when necessary to keep the post as vertical as possible.

4. Repeat impacting process until the top of the steel anchor has been driven two (2) inches below the soil surface.

5. Remove the FG 103 Post Driver from the post by lifting the driver up until it clears the top of the delineator post.
