Utah DOT: "To improve and standardize the procedure for delineating barriers, the UDOT's Maintenance Division has retrofitted all barriers i.e. guardrail, concrete barrier, and structure parapet walls on Utah's interstate system... This new approach to barrier delineation called for a reflectorized delineator, attached at 50 foot centers, on all barriers... Approved for use was an "L" shaped delineator for use on concrete barrier and parapet installations.

The new delineator design is more visible by being on top of the barrier. They are less vulnerable to snow removal operation. Also, because the delineator bodies are 8 inches in height the snow accumulation on top of the barrier does not block the reflectorized portion of the delineator during periods of heavy snow."
